Data Science & Engineering

With a technical foundation from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, my career has been defined by mastering unstructured data. Whether it was building computer vision models to "read" complex nutrition facts labels or having my sports data modeling work cited by the Harvard Sports Analysis Collective, I specialize in turning noise into signal. This engineering background led me to Holistiplan, where I saw firsthand how much "tax alpha" remains trapped in tax documents—waiting for the right technology to unlock it.

Data Visualization

At Capital One, the data visualizations I developed caught the attention of senior leadership—culminating with a presentation to the CIO demonstrating the power of bespoke data products to help business managers run their most critical operations. That experience crystallized a conviction: the right visual layer on top of the right data changes how leaders make decisions.

Technical Tax & Planning

When I couldn't find an hourly financial planner to help with my own software consulting business, I decided to become one. As a CFP®, EA, I experienced first hand how tough it is to be a financial planner and tax preparer.

Now I'm bringing these threads back together—building tools and training that let fiduciaries move faster, and deeper, without compromising the trust their clients depend on.
Speaking & CE Programs

Highly technical, objective-based educational sessions designed for NAPFA, CFP Board, and IAR continuing education requirements.

Technical Tax Planning

Hidden Tax Alpha: Optimizing Cash Sweeps, Mutual Funds, and ETFs

This course provides a deep dive into the state income tax mechanics of money market federal obligations and the capital gains implications surrounding the expiration of the Vanguard patent. Because these nuances are often overlooked, they routinely result in missed deductions, surprise tax bills, and suboptimal cash management for clients.

Learning Objectives
  • ANALYZE ETF structures and the capital gains implications of in-kind redemptions following the expiration of the Vanguard patent.
  • CALCULATE the state tax impact and applicable exemptions of Money Market Fund federal obligations.
  • IDENTIFY Municipal market funds and compare their tax-equivalent yields against traditional sweep options.
  • EVALUATE historical cash sweep vehicles to maximize tax efficiency and net yield for High-Net-Worth (HNW) clients.
  • IMPLEMENT communication and reporting strategies to ensure clients and their CPAs do not miss valuable state tax deductions at filing time, and that investment changes are made before major Fall taxable distributions.

Practice Management & Compliance

Leveraging AI as a Fiduciary: Moving from Never Ending Chats into Personalized, Accurate, and Secure Advice

Guided by the CFP Board’s Generative AI Ethics Guide and the principle of "trust, but verify," this session provides a practical blueprint for securely adopting AI in your financial planning practice. With AI transitioning from a novelty to a fiduciary necessity, advisors must move away from risky, unstructured chat tools and establish strict verification methods to uphold their Duties of Care and Diligence.

Learning Objectives
  • ANALYZE the technical mechanisms behind Large Language Model (LLM) "hallucinations" and evaluate the resulting risks to a practitioner’s Duty of Care and Diligence under Standard A.1.
  • CONSTRUCT a data-stripping workflow to mitigate "Mosaic Theory" privacy risks, ensuring AI prompts do not inadvertently disclose Personally Identifiable Information (PII) or violate IRC Section 7216.
  • IMPLEMENT a "Trust and Verify" process to cross-reference AI-generated advice against primary source data (e.g., tax tables, plan documents) to satisfy Standard A.1.
  • EVALUATE the compliance, data residency, and SEC/FINRA recordkeeping implications of various AI implementation strategies (e.g., public LLMs vs. customized enterprise architecture). (A.5 Consumer protection laws)
